The Story of Petrified Wood

Petrified wood is a type of fossil that forms when plant material. Primarily wood, is buried under sediment and mineral-rich water flows through it over millions of years.
The organic material in the wood is replaced by minerals, such as Silica, Quartz, or Calcite, while retaining the original structure of the wood, including its rings and grain patterns. This process, known as permineralization, essentially “turns the wood to stone.’’ The colors of petrified wood are real.
The color of petrified wood is caused by trace elements and minerals that replace the wood during fossilization.
What colors it can be : Red, Brown and Yellow, Iron Oxides. Pink and Orange, Manganese. Purple and Blue, Manganese Dioxide. green, Iron, Copper, Cobalt, or Chromium. black, Carbon. tan, Silica Dioxid.
